Question circuit board code

posting for my bro in law:

Luxaire furnace, model # PBKM LD 14 N 100F
furnace quit working last night. did troubleshooting, decided to replace circuit board (furnace only kicked on after twisting old circuit board). hooked everything up correctly, and it was reading code:

9 RED- Reversed line polarity/Bad ground

checked with hvac guy; recounted steps taken and order in which performed; was told he had done everything correctly.
He returned board, exchanged for another one.

reinstalled, same code. everything is grounded. Any ideas?

Your "Hot" and "Common" wires are switched around.. Check to make sure you got it hooked up right.

Did you put a meter on the "Hot" wire and ground to see if you are getting 120volts? If you are not reading power on the "Hot" wire, then it may be swiched back between the furnace, and breaker box.
