Weil McLain gas boiler

Eg 40 gas boiler and bottom of the boiler were the flame goes up into the chamber the whole bottom has a white coating on it. Should that part of the boiler be cleaned each year. I do take the burner tubes out and clean the pilot and the Chimney each year.

If it's a white powder, it's zinc oxide from corrosion of a galvanized coating on something.

Good practice would be to vacuum this up when the burners are removed and cleaned and other annual maintenance is done.
