I have a Carrier 58SSB130. Recently the heat stopped working. My husband and I started looking around to see if it was an easy fix. We took out the 3 wire pilot burner to test. It DOES spark, gas is flowing (verified this by putting a match to it and poof, FIRE!), but all it does it click...it wont ignite. What could be the problem? Is the spark not strong enough?

Pretty much the first thing to do with any Carrier three wire pilot system is to clean the pilot.
Take the screws out that hold the pilot burner in place. Use a 3/8" wrench to loosen the brass nut holding the pilot tubing in place and remove the pilot tubing. Remove the pilot orifice held in place by the brass nut and clean it using a wire from a wire brush.
Use a wire brush and some air to clean the rest of the pilot burner. Reinstall and fire it up.
More than likely that will solve the problem. The pilot should be cleaned this way once/year to insure reliable operation of the furnace.

In addition to what S/P has told you: When the pilot is in your hand and the orifice is removed, Look inside and you will see a little tube (venturi) probably midway down the tube you will notice a small hole, make sure that hole is clear. Will need a flashlight to see it.
