Whirlpool Furnace 1978 Model

My furnace won't start blowing when I try to override the set temperature. Pilot light is still on. Just won't kick on. Any suggestions please?

Did the main burner kick on or not ??

And what type of wall thermosat you have ?? old style or electronique type ??

The quickest way to get the gaz burner kick on is jump the red and white thermosat conductors { the small one not the big conductor type }

Just run the jumper just long engouh to get the main burner kick on if not let us know and Please get the model number off on this furance it will make it easier for us to help you with troubleshooting.

I would expect most Whirlpool furnaces of that vintage to have intermittent pilot ignition systems that light the pilot each time the thermostat calls for heat rather that standing pilot that stay lit all the time.

Does the pilot turn off when the thermostat is turned down?

And please post the model of the furnace from the rating plate in the burner compartment of the furnace.
