25 yr old Rheem furnace motor won't start by itself

It's a squirrel cage fan but I hear the motor making a buzzing sound because it's trying to start but it can't. It's like it's stuck but it isn't because it will spin freely if spun by hand. It won't start spinning until I give it a push by hand, then it will spin under it's own power. Is the motor going out or the start capacitor? How do I test the capacitor?

Thanks!

Start by replacing the capacitior. They are cheap, and much less than the instrument needed to check the capacitor. Most likely that is the problem, but if it has been like that for a while then you might need a new motor.

Replacing capacitor didn't help. Replaced the motor and works like new again!
