can i used gas exaust pipe

Hi All
My niece has an oil furnace.
The service man installs a flex exhaust pipe from the burner to the outside exhaust vent.
He ran the flex pipe so low that the basement door open half way.
Can I use natural gas exhaust pipe?
The one that has a double wall and twist lock together
That would be better to make new runs with right angle and strait pipe
Thanks

Ps I would install a carbon monoxide detector

Are you sure this flex pipe is for the exhaust & not fresh air intake?

Pictures would help. The easiest way for use to see them is to post the pictures on photobucket.com or similar site & provide a link to the album here.
