Goodman furnance won't stop running .

Ok here goes hope yall can help . I have a Goodman furnace model GDS8 that was installed 6 years ago , when I fired it up this fall for the first time my tstat ( hunter model 44260 ) wouldn't adjust the temp . So I bought a new hunter tstat ( model 44155c ) hooked it up and now the furnace will not shut off after reaching the set temp on tstat . If i flip the switch on tstat from heat to off the furnace will shut down . I read that it might be a shortin the tstat wiring so
I went to lowes and bought new wire and the same thing it won't shut off at set temp but will shut off if i flip the switch . any help would be greatly appreciated .

sounds like a bad new stat to me. you can verify this by checking W to C for 24Vac while it should be in standby.
