Gas Furnace -- Annual Maintenance Needed?

I have two 2-year old Goodman gas furnaces (one in basement, one in attic). I had them checked upon purchase of the house 2 years ago. This summer, while servicing the central air, my HVAC guy said gas furnaces really only need to be checked / serviced every 3 years or so. This will be the third winter with them (New England). Should I have annual / bi-annual / tri-annual service done?? Thanks!

Every other year is generally recommended. Depending on usage you may be able to go three or four years. I would advise getting a tech in to evaluate the furnaces.

Depending on the age and the status of warranty on the unit and the servicing contractor (how stringent they are to follow the warranty guidelines) Most new systems state in the warranty info that they must be service annually by a certified contractor.
