I have a non working carrier sx040cc1 I also have a working sx060cc1
My question is can I swap the working parts from the 060 to the 040 or should I just swap furnaces

The 040 or 060 parts of the model number roughly describe the BTU input to the furnace ---- how much heat they produce per hour.
The 040 furnace should have two burners and the 060 furnace three burners.
Other than that, the two furnaces are pretty much identical.
Did you buy a scrap furnace in order to have a source of parts for your furnace? That's a reasonable thing to do.
