Goodman Dependable 92 Model GMPN080-4 issues

I am having some issues with my furnace. The combustion blower kicks in and then the flame kicks in, but turns off a couple seconds later. It goes through a few cycles of the flame coming on and off and then just turns off. I switched the fan to on and it turns on. I also checked the error light and after turning off after the last cycle it just flashes continuously. There was no pattern or anything.

Any ideas?

Thanks

If the gas burner doesn't light, you don't want the gas to keep pouring out of the burners.

To check to see if the burners have lit, there is a flame sensor on the side opposite the hot surface ignitor. It's a rod about 1/8" in diameter that sticks up into the area of the burner flame, and has a single wire coming out the bottom that goes back to the circuit board.

The flame sensor can get coated with invisible oxides that prevent the flame from being detected. If that happens, the burner will shut off after 3-5 seconds, which is what you are describing.

Take the flame sensor out and clean it with a wire brush or fine sandpaper. You don't need to cut into the metal --- just clean off the surface.

Reinstall and try it again.

You can check the flame sensor by measuring DC micro-amps in series with the sensor and board.

The current shouldn't be below 1 microamp.
