Ruud Silhouette uglg-05nauer (1990ish)

I turn on the heat at the thermostat, fan set to auto.

Draft air fan comes on, igniter burns brite orange, after about inside a minute furnace ignites. Stays lit for approximately 5 seconds, then the burner turns off, and the forced air fan blows cold into the house. Anybody have any idea what this could be??? Thanks in advance.. John

The flame sensor is typically on the side opposite the hot surface ignitor, and is a rod about 1/8" in diameter that sticks up above the burner with a single wire going to the circuit board.

Remove the flame sensor and clean it with a wire brush or fine sandpaper to clean away the invisible coating of oxides which prevents the burner flames from being detected. You don't need to cut into the metal.

Reinstall and give it a try.
