Natural Gas Furnace Clunks

My old natural gas furnace has started making a clunking sound at some point while it's running. It's usually on several minutes before it does it, and I've heard it click off but not clunk. When it does clunk, it runs at least several more minutes. And it doesn't do it every single time it runs. Any idea what this could possibly be?

No.

Try taking the cover off the burner compartment of the furnace and carefully observe what is happening until you have more detail you can report.
