Converting Oil Fired to Gas Fired Water Boiler

I have a 5 year old oil fired Slant Fin Intrepid TR-30P, cast iron water boiler. It heats water for our forced hot air heating system and our domestic hot water tank. I would like to convert to a gas fired system for the obvious cost savings. One plumber told me that I can remove the Beckett oil burner from the front of the boiler and simply replace it with a gas fired burner, not having to replace the boiler or anything else. This sounds too good to be true. Has anyone done this, heard of this or know if such work is possible?
