Replacing Ducane DMR-10-C (26 yrs old) w/ Beckett AF

New to this.
Bought Beckett Af unit used with settings of
1.35 gph @60B F6 head
Air band and shutter both at #1 .
Changed head to F0 , nozzle .50 gph @80B (origional Ducane Size @100psi))

Don't know what to do with Air band and Shutter.
Bled the pump with pressure gauge on nozzle out line. Bleeding went fine but
pressure gauge reads 140psi when on (remember nozzle line has no "T"
When pump(Suntec) is off, pressure 100psi steady(no power). Not sure what to do next or settings. Someone please help. thanks

You probably also need to change the static plate & maybe add a low firing rate baffle. There is a screw on the pump to adjust the pressure. This needs to be done while the burner is powered. Into what make & model of furnace are you installing the burner?

Thanks for helping. Static plate changed as indicated with F0 head(3-3/8). AF Becketts don't need the LFB says the manual. What airband and shutter setting should I start with? Bleeding and pump pressure worked out fine. Make: Carrier Model: 58HU055 (forced air). thanks again.

I'd start with the band closed & the shutter at 4. Before actually putting the burner in service, combustion set up needs to be checked with instruments. If you don't have access to any, call a local company familiar with oil burning appliances.

Burner will not start. Pressure was set to 100psi at pump outlet(no nozzle connection) and bled. I don't smell any oil. Ran unit two times for 15 sec. playing with air on 2nd try. New nozzle, good gap, good spark, good Z dimention. I plan on taking unit oput to test on workbench outside. HELP again. thanks

I just checked Beckett's OEM spec guide to see what I could find out about Ducane furnaces firing a .50 nozzle. All of the furnaces which use the .50 use the AFG burner which is a higher static pressure burner than is the AF.

What did you use for electrode settings? On the AF, I usually use 7/16" above the nozzle center, 1/16" ahead, & 5/32" gap.
