The blower speed needs to be set according to the temp rise of the furnace. There is not a specific " most efficient blower speed for a warm air furnace used for heat only".
Last week during Sandy's blackout my buddy call me to check out his furnace, he said it was working 5 minutes on generator then stop. I found Nordyne furnace correctly connected to 6000W generator working together with refrigerator. I easy found burnt control board in furnace. Next day I went to supply for new control board and gentlemen behind the desk tells me this day he sell all 15 boards he had on shelf and is waiting for delivery. I just wondering if someone have an experience with board #903106. Same Control board is installed in Nordyne, Miller, Gibson furnace. What can cause damage to this board? i suspect floating ground from generator.
I have a 100+ year old home with a RWB-Beckett oil furnace (don't know the model). I was told at the last cleaning the firebox was cracked, the tech said it looked like it may have been repaired before. I know nothing about oil furnaces, not having ever had one before. All I know is this one smells like burnt ash when it turns on.
The furnace does not look like anything I've seen in the shops. Someone cut an intake hole in the side of the outer cabinet. I have a second filter on that now. The burner unit (I think) sticks out the front of the cabinet housing as well.
How does one repair a cracked firebox on an oil furnace? I cannot afford a new furnace for a few months yet, I need to nurse this one along.
Thanks in advance.
