pilot wont light

Hi,I have a bryant 90+ 23 yr old and pilot wont light except if i quickly turn the blue gas valve knob off and on it will light but with a large dancing flame that looks like it is being sucked down 1 burner tube and the main valve does not open untill I jump it .my question is could their be a hole somewhere letting the inducer motor suck the gas away from the spark and also causing the pilot not to be hot enough to switch the main burner on .the pilot is new but same problem as old one.I put 2 used gas valves on thinking the pilot gas pressure was too high blowing past spark

Yes there could be a holein the heat exchanger, but it would be unlikely to cause the problem your describe.

A poor quality pilot flame is the leading reason why a Carrier three wire pilot of the kind you have wont light the main burner.

Start by disassembling and cleaning the pilot burner and pilor orifice. Remove the two screws that hold the pilot assembly in place, then gently bend the pilot tubing to bring the p[ilot burner out to where you can work on it.

Use a wrench to lossen and then remove the brass fitting that holds the pilot tubing in the pilot burner. At the end of the pilot tubing is the pilot orifice, which will often fall out in your hand once the pilot tubing is removed.

Clean the pilot orifice with a wire from a wire brush and blow and brush any dirt and debris from the pilot burner.

Reassemble and the odds are you will be back in business.

Cleaning the pilot burner is annual maintenance that should be done annually to avoid problems in any case.
