Weil Mclain WGO-4 Oil - Why are we going through oil so fast?
Hi all,
I know this is sort of an open ended question, but we have been going through 100 gallons of furnace oil every 3 weeks this winter. Our thermostat hasn't been set that high, perhaps set to shut off at 65-F.
Is there some maintenance tasks that should be performed to keep oil use efficient? We don't have any open air vents or windows. It hasn't been really cold here (southern NJ) until this week.
What could cause more oil usage than normal? What do you guys consider average use?

How do you heat your hot water?
What is you aquastat set at?
What type of heat emmitters do you have? If you are over radiated you may be able to lower the boiler temp some.
If tankless coil it may be best to install an electric water heater. Then your boiler would go cold start with a aquastat change.
