Thermostat RoberstShaw 9725i2 versus Lennox SignatureStat

My thermostat Lennox SignatureStat is acting up (display comes and goes). I was wondering if anyone knows if I could use the RobertShaw to replace the Lennox (same connections for wires/termination)?

I have an outdoor temp sensor and the furnace is a Lennox G61MPV (two stages variable speed).

The signature stat has had problems from day 1 in my experience. It would be best to move to a Honeywell, or Ecobee, or Emerson thermostat in my opinion. This will require more than just simply changing the thermostat though. I recommend a professional to do this.

Thanks for your reply. But what about the RobertShaw I mentionned? It looks identical to the SignatureStat, which I love, in spite of it flaws.

I've looked at the Lennox Comfortsense 7000, as well as the Honeywell, but I wasn't impressed with the touch screen.

I really like the SignatureStat. It recently developped vertical dark blue lines on the display that come and go, but apart from that, it has been reliable.

The RobertShaw I mentionned seems to be a copy of the SignatureStat, so I would go with that one if possible???

That should work, but I urge you to get away from that thermostat.......

You will need to reprogram the thermostat for your system which can be difficult with that particular model.

delayed ignition

I have a Frigidiaire HE furnace mod.#FG6RC060C-12A that is 8 years old.The problem is delayed ignition. It,s very intermittent.It might only occur every 3-4 days or sometimes in the middle of the night. But when the furnace ignites with this delayed ignition , it sounds like a loud boom & actually will wake you in the night!The contractor who installed unit has yet to hear it as it is so intermittent He,s replaced the board, put in a new flame sensor & has checked burners for for dirt , ect. Now he is going to put in a new igniter.I,ve noticed when unit has a normal start up, there is a red glow that is visible through a glass port on front but when there is a delayed ignite , there,s about a 3-4 second pause & no glow, just a flash & boom! Could this be a faulty glow bar? Another strange thing After 4 or 5 of of these episodes, if I shut off furnace breaker for a few minutes, furnace will run normal again (for awhile) Regards, JohnRead More

Rheem ROBC 084QAEA Oil Furnace Won't Light/Stare

I have a Rheem ROBC 084QAEA furnace. It was installed in 1991. It runs on heating oil. I neglected to order a shipment of heating oil and the tank ran dry (all but the bottom inch or so on the 250 to 275 gallon tank) on Saturday, Jan 19. When the oil delivery was made I attempted to re-start the furnace but no dice. I removed the top panel of the unit and spotted a red light on next to the reset button. I hit the reset button and the furnace restarted for a few seconds before stopping. The red light lit up again. This area is, I think, connected to the burner. After a few more attempts at resetting the red button the furnace lit and the unit operated properly until sometime last night. I looked at the unit and did the same resetting of the red button, this time with no success. In the attempt at restarting this morning, as well as Saturday afternoon, a small quantity of black soot shot out of the exhaust pipe running into the chimney. This afternoon I changed the in-line filter, a Model 1A-25A. I bled the line as per a YouTube vid I watched and that seemed to go ok. I was still unable to get the unit to start up. It seems that there is no ignition going on. When I hit the reset buttom for about the 5th time, the unit would not reset. I would appreciate any help at doing some more troubleshooting.
