No heat today - red light w/ 1 flash (= Limit Circuit Open or External Load on "W"). Thermo fan is on "Auto", Temp is "off" , but blower still runs.
I cut power at panel for 1 minute, turned breaker back on, and within 5-6 seconds the fan came back on again. Still no heat, still single flash.

And, oh, by the way, it's Sunday, of course

What type of air filters do you use?
Is the air filter clean now?
Do you have a meter?

Looks like you have a vent safety switch and a roll-out on the limit circuit, they usually have manual reset buttons. We would also need to verify why it tripped.

Huston204: I have a fairly inexpensive fliter - cleaned 10 days ago. I did have an issue once w/ a too-dirty filter (which I cleaned/replaced, and it solved the problem), but this seems to be a different issue. I did try to reset the vent safety switch - to no avail.

We do have a meter - it's a Sears 982361. Never really used it.

UPDATE: We pushed the Roll-out switch, it reset, I turned power off then on (because the fan was still going), and now it is working again.

What would cause the roll-out switch to trip??

UPDATE #2: It tripped again, and I now have the blinking red light again. It did bring it up to temp, however, before it shut off. Fan is still blowing (but it's not turned on at the stat).

The most likely cause for a roll out switch to trip is a crack, hole or restriction in the heat exchanger.

Sounds like its time to call a pro.
