Beckett AFG Intermittent Firing
Hi everyone. I was hoping someone could help me out. I have an old beckett AFG Oil fired water boiler. It runs fine and then eventually will trip off. Normally after it cycles on and off a few times due to the thermostat. I can then go and press the red reset button on the burner itself (I think the primary controller) and the unit will click right back on.
So far I have:
Changed the main oil filter.
Changed the nozzle
Put on new ignighters
Put on a new main transformer
Cleaned the furnace
New Cadd Eye
I realized today that I dont even have to really push the red button to get it to reset. It's like I just have to get close to the red button or even shake it an it will reset. There does not seem to be any loose wires but there is a grey moving plat on top of a small transforer on the board that seems suspicious.... haha
Anyway, I was thinking of buying a new controller but they all seem more advanced now and I am not sure which one to get. Also, I am not sure if thats even the problem. I am going to try and attach a pic of the board I am talking about. Thanks for your help!!

OK, So I found a number on the Honeywell controller. It just says "8638" on the metal enclosure. Any ideas of what controller I can use to replace this one? Thanks!! Bob

Oil Primary Control Honeywell model R8184G4074 should work just fine. if your primary has three wires in the bottom. white , black & orange. I'm not certain but I think the full number on you primary is located on the bottom of the primary control.
