Becket afg oil burner

WHEN THE THERMOSTAT CALLS FOR HEAT, I HEAR A CLICK (RELAY) IN THE HONEYWELL CONTROL. THE UNIT ONCE IN A WHILE DOESN'T START UNTIL I GIVE IT A SLIGHT KICK. IS IT A DEFECTIVE OR DIRTY RELAY, A DEAD SPOT IN THE MOTOR, OR ?? IF I'M NOT PRESENT, THE UNIT SHUTS DOWN TILL I PRESS THE RED BUTTON AND GIVE IT A SLIGHT KICK.

A crude but often effective test for a bad control is, once the burner is running, to rap the side of the control with the handle of a screwdriver. I'm not suggesting you wail on it. Just a firm tap. If the burner stops, even momentarily, replace the control.
