what is the process on moving an outside home gas meter to another area

Hi, I am having a porch built in the front of my house with overhang. My gas meter is in the way. What do I need to do to move it to another spot. I live in NYC and have National Grid as my provider. Trying to get answers is frustrating. Everything is 4 to 6 week delays.

Get in line and fill out the paperwork. The gas supplier and a licensed tech will most likely need to be there to move it to a new and correct location then reconnect the house to the meter. Hopefully after all the waiting you will also have your building permit and can commence construction of the deck. Good luck.

Did you call the gas company? Do they move their end? You would need a plumber for the house side....

Big expense I would think....

Remember it is not just the meter that needs moving, also the service line.
