steam radiator leaking

the valves on the steam radiators in my apartment are leaking badly, is there a way i can adjust something and stop the leaking? it is dripping water when the heat comes on from the side and it is getting in my carpets and is just a general pain in the butt, how can i stop it from leaking, they all seem to be doing it. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!

What valves? Each radiator has two. Large on/off valve at bottom side and air valve at top side. Air valves can be replaced easily and purchased at local hardware or hvac outlet, plumbing outlet. Big valve, call a plumber.

replacing sealing vents

i have had a problem with black moldy build up on a/c vents in one half of my house. the other half have stayed clean. the house is almost 10 yrs old. i removed the ones blackened and now am unable to secure them back up. screws wont hold into plaster in ceiling. why would some get black and some not? and how do i reattach vents now? would really appreciate advice.

Is it more efficient on a hot summer day to turn off your home A/C or just to raise the temperature 5 to 10 degrees. I have heard it's better to just raise the temperature but not to turn it off? Why would that be?
