I just moved into this house about 2 months ago, so I don't know a whole lot about the heating/cooling system. I have a very old Bryant 353 type 140 Oil Fired Air Furnace, which looks like it was installed in the 70's. I need to eventually replace it, but i don't have a few grand to do that right now. I think it's a direct drive (there was no belt when I removed the blower motor).

My issue is the blower motor died a few weeks ago. I concluded this due to the breaker suddenly tripping, then tripping the second I turn the breaker back on. I'm thinking I have a blower issue, capacitor issue or board issue. I'm replacing the blower/capacitor to hopefully fix the issue. Fingers crossed it's not the board.

Today I pulled out the blower motor to find that there are no specs on the motor itself - so I'm clueless as to what motor I need to buy to replace it with. I pulled the motor totally out and absolutely no markings, numbers or specs. The furnace itself is from the 70's, and was installed as heating only. In 1999 it looks like a cooling system (evaporator coil) was retrofitted to the system. It's an Lennox and the plate showing the model number, etc appears to be gone (I can see where it used to be)

Any help would be really appreciated, as I live in PA and heating is going to be a big deal in the next few weeks. I have included some images here that may be useful to helping me identify the blower part number, including pictures of the furnace manual.

Yours is a direct drive. In that case, you would need a 1/3 HP motor. The number & colors of the wires indicate the original was a 4 speed but a 3 speed would work & likely be more available & cheaper. Most likely it is a 1/2" diameter shaft but measure to be sure.
BTW, with that vintage furnace there is no board.

Any idea on the voltage? It looks like 115v is the common motor, but I don't see a voltage rating anywhere.

If 115V I'm thinking this would this be a good fit:

Edit: Yes it's a 1/2" shaft, and the motor itself has a 5.5" diameter

 

I'd be blown away if the voltage was anything other than 115 volts. Make sure you get a new capacitor with the motor. Sounds like the motor you picked would be a good fit.

 

How were you planning on replacing the motor? If you were going to buy one from a local HVAC supply place, you might as well take it, or even some pictures of it, there and ask them for a replacement.

You might also talk to some of the pros at the place, you might be able to negotiate a deal with one of them. I regularly find that the pros at building supply places are very helpful at explaining why I really should not try whatever it is I am planning.
