Furnace breaker keeps tripping

Weekend house. Gas hot air furnace and AC. Saw that 20 amp breaker for the furnace had tripped. Turned it back on and it stayed. 10 minutes later I noticed it had tripped again, but the unit had not run. Flipped it back on again and then set the thermostat for cool and heat and both ran fine. Breaker stayed on while running. Later checked and the breaker had flipped again. Turned the theromstat to "off" and flipped the breaker on. When I checked later on it had flipped off again. Bad breaker or can something on the furnace be causing it to flip?

If the furnace is the only thing on that circuit try turning off the service switch at the unit and then reset breaker. See if it still trips. If yes....it's not the furnace as you have just removed it from the circuit.
