Pilot stays lit for days then goes out

Hi, I have a gas fireplace, one year old. I shut pilot off for the summer. Last week I had no problem lighting it (3 - 4 "clicks" started up and stayed lit). Noticed a few days later it had gone out. Thought someone in house shut it off and just re lit it. A few days later it was off again (this time I asked no one shut it off).

Any d i y suggestions or do I need a Pro ($$$) to look at it?

First I would clean the thermopile/couple and make sure it is properly located in the pilot's flame. It's extremely sensitive and can even sense when the oxygen level in the room drops by the cooler flame so maladjustment or a layer of soot can cause it to turn the gas off.
