I have a 1999 Goodman gas furnace (GMPH080-5) that is not igniting when heat is called. The inducer motor starts and after a few seconds I hear a click (pressure switch?), but the HSI does not glow. I removed the HSI and received an 80 ohms resistance reading, which is acceptable continuity, based on what I have researched. Called a tech who tested the voltage coming to the HSI from the control board and it read 6 volts. From what I read, that is too low of voltage and the tech was unsure and said that each HSI is rated differently. He advised me to order new HSI and install, which I'm waiting on. I have removed the tubing between the pressure switch and inducer and it appears to be clear. Does this sound like a faulty HSI, control board or pressure switch? The tech seemed to be convinced it is not the pressure switch because he could hear it clicking closed and not the control board because it was reading voltage to the HSI. Thanks.

As our family grows (we are fostering) my wife and I have an infant sleeping in one of our two smaller bedrooms, we've been paying attention to the temp in that room. Every morning it seems cold in the baby's room. So I've been trying to "balance" the house by playing with the flow control on the vents throughout the house. Nothing really worked and I just figured the smaller rooms would be colder because they each have big sliding glass balcony doors. But then I noticed the other small room was much warmer than the baby's room, so I figured the glass doors aren't the full reason for the loss of temperature. So I got a thermo gun and measured the temps of the air coming out of each of the vents. When the furnace is on and the air flowing, the airflow/vents in the baby's room are 15-20 degrees lower than the air in the other small room, the den area, and the master bedroom! Also shooting the 20 degree cooler air are the bathroom vent that is between the two smaller rooms as well as the laundry-room, which is just off of the baby's colder room. (So all three 20-degree-colder vents are near each other, probably on the same duct-line). We have a 2 story, 3 bedroom house and all the bedrooms are on the 2nd floor. The two small bedrooms are right next to each other, joined by a bathroom. Also on the 2nd floor are a den area and the master bedroom. The house has 2 furnaces, one for upstairs and one for downstairs, so the air to all the bedrooms is coming from the same upstairs furnace. I went up in the attic and though the ductwork is a complete maze up there, it looks like the vents with the cooler air have a longer run, going all the way around the attic to get back to the furnace. But the (very small) attic isn't much colder than the rest of the house and there is very good insulation up there, so I don't think that they'd be affected by the distance such that there could be a 20 degree drop in temperature due heat loss by the duct work. Is it more likely that there's a hole/leak somewhere that's pulling in (relatively) cooler air and mixing it with the furnace air before it reaches the cooler vents? Any other Ideas why the air could be 20 degrees cooler? Our house was built in 2005 and we live in Las Vegas.
