1quick question ..... How large does the cold air return need to be for this unit? This furnace was installed about 10 years ago and has been operating just fine until now. I had it inspected and was told that the cold air return is too small. It's been the same size, in the same location, for the entire time it's been in my home. I'm afraid I'm being taken advantage of since I have zero knowledge of gas furnaces.

Without knowing the btu capacity of the furnace we can't tell you how big the return should be but if it has worked well for 10 years, the return can't be grossly small.
