I would like to know if their is anything wrong with burning say dyed low sulfur diesel mixed with waste oil. I would be using this in my home lennox oil furnace.
I use all sorts of mixed waste oil in my works shop oil furnace as they have done it for years. The fuels I would burn are a mixture of waste oil 15/40,waste hydraulic oil 46,and diesel low sulfur with non-gelling additive. Would any of these become harmful to me my family or the life expectancy of my old oil furnace? Thanks hope to hear a reply soon.

Anything other than diesel, heating oil, or kerosene should not be used in a furnace made for residential use. Who knows what the btu value of the mix is. Anything over 140,000 btu/gallon can damage the furnace.

I'm not saying it would be fine, not at all. There are a whole lot of other factors to consider besides btu content. I do not recommend using anyting other than the fuel(s) for which the furnace is approved.
