Trane xl 80 blower motor

My blower motor was making a humming sound so after looking problem up i was thinking it could be the capacitor so i took the furnace apart unplugged the capacitor and checked it with a digital meter and the ohm came up then dropped so i discharged it with a screwdriver and checked again and same so i was hoping it was good enough so i plugged it back in and but it back in its bracket but before butting furnace back together i turned it on to see if it would come on and it did , the blower was blowing good but still had a slight whining to it when spinning so i turned it off and let it come to a stop and tried it again and same thing spinning and whining so i but it together and now it don't spin it just hummed like it is trying to turn just not enough power to get started

The ohm test is like checking that your car battery has dc voltage but not what the voltage measures.

You need a meter that can measure capacitance or just replace the cap.
