ionizing furnace filter???

Years ago we had a furnace filter that you put in your furnace (like any other filter you put in your furnace) that plugged into a electrical outlet. It ionized your air in the house. Wasn't just a so called air cleaner filter. I think it was called something like an electrostatic ionizing filter. Does anyone know if they make something like that anymore??? We had something like that put in now, but to find out it is only an air cleaner. We liked the ionized air filter we had before as you could actually smell the difference in the air. Thanks so much!!!

That smell you remember is ozone. Ozone is toxic.

Yah ozone is nasty stuff.

Stick with regular filters - the filter is there to keep your furnace clean, not improve iaq. For that you need to ventilate, vacuum, and not use artificial air fresheners or scented candles.
