Philco Furnace No Heat Blower Won't Shut Off
Hi,
First of all I don't know much about furnaces. I can work with tools, multimeters, etc. I have a horizontal Philco 93% High Efficiency furnace and noticed it getting no heat but blower won't shut off even when set to off on thermostat. Had a local friend come over he opened panel and pressed the reset switch and wala it started working again. The filter was dirty so I replaced that and checked outside and didn't see any blockage to pipes. He told me the switch is a thermal switch and it may have gotten too hot because of dirty filter. Well last night my wife called while I was out of town and said no heat again and it is -13 in Michigan. I had her reset the switch again and it worked till morning and now it tripped again. HVAC guy can't come out for 3 more days because they are busy. Anything I can do to test switch or should I not be resetting this? I don't want to freeze my family but don't want to do something unsafe either. Any direction? Thank You very much
