System 2000 Ek1 concern

first and foremost...I have heat right now! and plenty of it. My concern is I have a Energy Kinectics System 2000 EK1 fueled by natural gas with a Carlson burner on the unit. Normally when the system calls for heat I woudl hear the burner kick on, then the furnace would fire and continue to run for about 10-15 minutes and then shut down...after I would hear a hummming noise for about 3 minutes (which I am thinking is the circulator but I am just a homeowner) and then the system wouldsort of discharge and generate a shutting down noise and everything would be shut down....I am not hearing that shut down noise and the humming noise just keeps humming all night long

Hi and welcome...

IMO its probably operating normally and the units is running constantly to satisfy the t stat.

What it would be doing is the circ is constantly running and the boiler will cycle to 180f...cool down some...180f...cool down some etc...

It would seem you t stat is not getting satisfied? Meaning you have set to say 70f and the indoor temp is only say 69f?

Does that sound like your issue???

doesnt sound like my issue...long after the thermostat has been satisfied the circulator pump seems to be running...even until the next call for heat...actually all night long. I just visited energy kinectics website and watched a video on their technology and it sounds like the Digital Manager is not telling the system to perform a Thermal Purge or Energy Reclaim....

The thermal purge is based on time I belive.. Where after the unit shuts down the circ will run for like 10 minutes...

Possibly its just a t stat issue... Is it getting above the t stat setting in the home? Have you changed the batteries in the t stat?

no its not going above temp...but I had no idea there was batteries in the thermostat...so this evening Ill pop the face off the t-stat...and replace considering they are original ...over 3 years old. Great suggestion...basically Im worried about doing damage to the circ pump...but it doesnt sound like this will happen

I changed the batteries in the thermostat and still its not doing the thermal purge...so when all else fails the next step is to pull out the manual...I discovered that if the unit goes 20 minutes without doing a thermal purge, a monitor on the digital board will light up on the "monitor" indicator...so I watched the clock and 19 minutes in (after lowering the thermo) and the system completed its thermal purge...I guess its that cold overhere...sorry for the false alarm
