We have an older gas floor furnace and back in October, we had to replace the heat sensor because the pilot light would not stay lit. Replaced the sensor and it's been working like a champ.
Today, we lowered the thermostat because it was warm in the house. Later in the evening we turned it back up because the house was a little to cold...When the thermostat was turned up, the furnace, pilot, EVERYTHING shut off. We relit the pilot, which stayed lit, let it alone for about 30 minutes, turned the thermostat back up, and once again, everything went out.
What would cause this sudden occurrence? It can't be the heat sensor because the pilot will stay on, it's just when the furnace kicks on, it heats for a few minutes, then shuts off. Help? Someone? anyone?

Pretty tough to troubleshoot when we don't know what controls are on your furnace. You must take millivolt reads to troubleshoot properly. Does the gas company in your area do service calls?
