Carrier Furnace Issues, Gas Valve losing voltage
I have a 58SXC060-GG furnace and it will start it's heating cycle and run for a couple of minutes and then the gas valve loses it's voltage and when it tries to recycle there is no voltage coming from the control board to the gas valve, it then tries 3 times and then shuts down on a safety and gives me a code 34. I have replaced the control board but it still happens. I also noticed that there is a crack running from the top of the center gas tube up to the top of the heat exchanger wall (I think) would that cause the problem and can that be repaired?
Thanks,
James

A trouble code of 34 is a flame sensor issue. That's the shiny metal rod that has one wire going to it and sits in the flame. Remove the one screw that holds it in. Disconnect the wire. Using steel wool or my favorite... a green scotchbrite pad ...... clean the rod until it's shiny.
Below is the link to your furnace manual. A lot of helpful info in it.
I'd like to see a picture of what looks like a crack if you can post it.

Furnace Crack Pictures

Thanks for the reply, I tried cleaning the flame sensor rod and I started it up last night and it did the same thing, run for just a little bit and then the voltage drops out of the gas valve, then it started cycling through again and this time I would get the 24 volts to the gas valve but it didn't open to release any gas, it tried three times and then shut down on a safety. I'll try to post a picture of the crack, this thing is driving me insane....
