converting oil to gas

i was looking for any personal experience on on converting a WM uo-5 boiler to gas. carlin combustion makes a burner that they say will do the job but i wanted to see anyone has done it using carlin or any other brand and have any issues.

the alternate to conversion is replacing the whole boiler at 5K cost.

thanks

I have not done it myself, but I can't imagine the efficiency on the conversion is nearly as good as the efficiency of a new gas boiler Then you've got the potential reliability and service issues that come with a conversion and the difficulties that might come up if you end up needing to find a professional that will work on the conversions. Depending on your cost of gas and oil, the cost of the conversion, etc, you may be better off just upgrading the whole unit to the latest and greatest, at least if you are planning on staying in the same house for the next 10-20 years. It's all about payback period I think.
