Hello!!

I live in a 2003 built townhouse. It has a furnace from International Comfort Product - Brand Comfortmaker, Model# C9MPD050F12A3 Nov 2002.

It has stopped working.. Actually it starts for couple of seconds then stops. I see the ignition light then pilot flame then actual fire blowing for 4-5 seconds then it stops. It does it few times then stops for a longer period. Then the same cycle goes on.

I checked the flashes on the Honeywell valve. It is flashing 6 + 2 diagnostic codes. I saw the details and found this code stands for - "Soft Lockout - Flame Sense Lost During Run Cycling Pressure Switch Or Blocked Condensate".

Please help me on how to correct this issue...

Thank You

Sunil

Welcome to the forum! EPD24F19C2 is the model number for the evaporator coil. To better assist, can you post the model number of the furnace? If you remove the furnace access panel the model number should be visible on a tag or sticker.

Thanks for the model number and photos. Here is a link to the installation manual for your furnace: http://www.havenhomeclimatecare.ca/w...rite-c9mpd.pdf

The 6+2 flash code (Flame Sense Lost During Run Cycling Pressure Switch Or Blocked Condensate) would point to a block somewhere in the condensate drain system or a pressure switch issue. The pressure switch issue could be caused by a blocked/backed up condensate drain system. I would start on page 18 of the manual I linked to review the condensate drain configuration for your unit. It depends on how it is installed such as vertical, horizontal and etc. The drain system consists of tubing and a condensate trap that must be maintained on a regular basis. The furnace also has a pressure switch that must be closed during operation of the furnace. If there is a blockage in the system (combustion air or exhaust) or a condensate issue the pressure switch will open and turn off the flame or not allow flame ignition to continue.

I suggest you find the inducer draft motor and look for the tubes that go to the pressure switch (fig. 12 and others). Remove the hose and you will find a bleed port on the inducer motor. Sometimes this port will get crud in it and needs to be cleaned out for the pressure switch to operate properly. I like to use a small drill bit or an opened paper clip to ream out the port. The port must be clear all the way through. Also make sure the hose is clear from end to end.

The exhaust vent pipe must also be clear of any obstructions or restrictions. Sometimes these restrictions are caused by birds building nests, critters crawling in, leaves getting in and etc. as well as a sag in the piping causing condensate to pool in the pipe.

You may also have a condensate pump installed. If so, check that also to ensure it is not blocked.
Try clearing the condensate drain system and cleaning the inducer draft motor port and hose ends and see how the furnace works. If that doesn't correct the issue further troubleshooting will be required. If you post additional photos we can better assist you.

I attached a photo of what the induced draft motor looks like.

Resolved!!

Hello firedawgsatx and forum - Thank you very much for you help. Here is the latest update:

What I found that the Flame sensor became dirty thus not sensing the pilot flame for more than 3-5 seconds. This resulted the furnace shutoff after 3-5 seconds. This is a 11 year old furnace and this is very common issue fro furnaces that are 3-5 or more year old.

I took out the flame sensor and cleaned it a little bit by hand and cloth and put it back. The furnace started working great.

Then I thought of giving it a thorough cleaning by soft cleanser cloth used for this purpose. (I forgot the name). I bought that from Menards and came back home to clean. My bad - during cleaning the flame sensor, i touched the heat filament and broke it. Now I had to buy the whole flame sensor assembly. I researched and found one original Honeywell part at eBay for approx $40.00.

Replaced the bad one and now furnace working same as earlier, perfect.

Here is the link of the part that I bought from eBay:

Thank you again!!
