Air Filter Question
Greetings,
I am getting ready for the cold season here, it'll be our 2nd winter in this house. I've had a question about my furnace, though and it's time i find the answer. When i insert the air filter, which is the correct size according to the furnace manufactered specifications, there is still a 1/2inch gap between the air return duct and the furnace itself. My furnace is in the basement, so i assume this means the furnace is drawing air from the basement into the house as opposed to drawing air in from inside the home. Should I seal the air filter in with a non-permanent material like duct tape, and just redo it everytime the filter needs a charge? Or, is this not a big deal?
Thanks for your time! I appreciate any help I can get.
