New oil primary and fan limit
Looking to get some reassurance before I do what I think needs done here.
I replaced a bad R8184G oil primary with a new 7284U unit.
From reading online I connected the limit wire into hot. All works fine with the furnace.
Problem is the fan does not turn on on auto, Manual only.
The fan limit has power (black) to limit side, from limit to line in at the oil control (blue). Fan side to fan (red). No jumper in place. Not sure how this ever worked all these years.
Continuity tests fine for each side while turning dial. But no continuity from fan to line in on limit side. Fan side has no wire in place. Will never make connection without jumper obviously. Limit does cut power to controller. (AC recently installed, He added a relay inline to power and fan wires and relay controls fan for his stuff). Works fine.
I am thinking I should take the limit (blue) and tie to limit of controller instead of in with the hots. Then add a hot to the fan side. line in.
Does this sound correct? Thanks, Michael
