Igniter vs. Flame Sense Rod

I have a quick question - I have a one-of-a-kind oven that has several burners in it. Some use a controller with a separate flame sense and other use a single igniter/flame sense.

My question is general - is there anything different about the composition of a flame sense rod vs. an igniter rod? In other words are they interchangeable?

Thanks

The rods serve the same purpose and should be able to be interchanged. They're nothing more than just a steel rod.

Location to and distance from burner is important as the spark ignition system requires the correct gap to create a reliable spark.
