Honeywell ''check ignitor'' code 1 question
I replaced my R7284b controller with a R7284U because I'd read here that the timer(s) inside the B series were suspect.
This morning I turned the furnace on, it went thru the 5 sec. routine, (after running one time after my install last night of U series controller) then my programmed 5 sec. fuel and air purge, then it shut off at 15 sec. on error code 1 check ignitor.
My question is: by what means does this error code derive this info? does it measure voltage to the ignitor probes, voltage from the xformer secoundary or worse: failure to ignite, and if it's this last one how could it differentiate between voltage failure and fuel failure? I believe if it measured voltage to ignitors the display would say ''check fuel'' or some such.
I am going to check connections on the board(s), realign the ignitor tips and kick it but does anyone know how this single line diagnostic determines ignitor issue? I can only figure it measures voltage going to the probes......... or is it voltge applied to a separate transformer?? (I just thought of this, have not investigated this possibility, (yet).

Sorry for the slow reply. I somehow missed your question. Normally one would only get that code if the ignitor were not connected. Double check your connections. One side of the ignitor should go to blue & the other to a neutral.
