My mother has a 40 year old home with concrete floors. Originally, it was built with electric heat in the ceilings and a window air conditioning unit. Several years ago a heat pump system was installed. The air conditioning part works great, but because she lives in Illinois the heat pump system does not seem to "warm" the house. It runs constantly and the house is still cold. The mechanic has looked at it several times and there is nothing wrong with the system that he can find. The ceiling heat does warm the house, but cost a small fortune to operate. Is there another kind of system that she could have installed that would actually warm the house and not cost a fortune to operate?
