Looking for ITT General Controls gas valve replacement
Hi all,
One of the solenoids in my gas control valve has called it quits and I'm having trouble locating a replacement part. The rest of the furnace works fine despite being old and money is tight these days. The details regarding the valve are as follows:
ITT General Controls Model B57RB601.
I came out of an Olsen Manufacturing Furnace (Model BAS125). It's a 100,000 BtuH furnace.
I'm thinking that one of the Honeywell VR8200 series valves may work based on this discussion thread (posts#12 and #17), but the OP's control valve was a B57RBA601 that explicitly stated it was slow opening. http://www.doityourself.com/forum/ga...ur-home-2.html
Does anyone have any suggestions as to where or how I might find a suitable replacement gas valve? I can't find my exact model number on any cross reference tables.
Many thanks for your advice!

Since it is a 24v valve, you could likely use nearly any standing pilot valve with the correct btu rating that would fit in the space you have. That looks like 1/2" pipe. Some gas valves come tapped for 3/4" & come with 3/4" to 1/2" bushings.

Thanks for responding, Grady. I've essentially learned the same thing today. After going to three different supply houses in town, I found one that was willing to sell me the part without proof of a gas fitting license. All three suggested the Honeywell universal fit valve (VR8200A). I've got one to install tonight. In case anyone finds it useful, I'll post about whether or not I am successful tomorrow. I'm planning to do a soap test for leaks and will verify the regulator setting with a manometer just for piece of mind.

I presume this is natural gas? If not, the valve will have to be converted for use on LP.
Just a heads up: After soap testing, make sure you rinse all the soap off, most are corrosive.
