Trane furnace: solid red and green lights

I get an immediate solid red and solid green light. Trane Installer's Guide says "Continuous Reset caused by a blown fuse or internal error." I checked the fuse - a 5 amp auto fuse I think. It looked fine, and I got continuity with my voltmeter.

So what can I do to investigate an 'internal error'?

Welcome to the forums.

I moved you to your own thread. The one you posted in had a different problem and we wouldn't want the issues to get confused.

Solid red and green is not a good thing.

Try this for me...... turn power to furnace off and on 4-5 times within 30 seconds. If the red is still lit it means the board may have failed.

A full model number (found on inside wall by burner) will help me confirm.
Your furnace may have a ten year parts warranty on it where the part are covered and you pay labor. Do you know how old it is ?

Thanks! Nice to meet you PJmax.

Off and on routine doesn't change anything.

Model number is TUH2B080A9V3VAA

Furnace installed November 2007 and it has a ten year warranty so I still have a couple of years on it.

I do appreciate your help!

It means you need a new ignition control module.

Now you can find out if your ten year guarantee is any good.

Thanks SeattlePioneer.

Is the ignition control module basically the green circuit board?

Usually it would have connections to the thermostat wires on it --- the R and W terminals.

Yea, it's a green circuit board that has the red and green LEDs on it, as well as connections to the thermostat wires. I'll call the installer tomorrow and, as SeatttlePioneer says, find out how good that 10 year warranty is.

Thanks for everyone's help!

So ... furnace guy says blown circuit board caused by cracked heat exchanger. $2,700 in parts.

Lucky me, my warranty is parts and labor ... ;-)

[Cost to install a new one is around $3,500? Seems like a racket here ... furnace guy says change filter (one inch) every month!?!]
