Sight Glass (mica) for Floor Furnace WHERE TO FIND?
Tenant "lost" sight glass for 1990-ish floor furnace.
Does anyone know of a vendor? Or, does someone know how to get around this problem? Or, ....
Please HELP! I just renovated the whole house, but I can't rent it for missing this tiny little part -- the tail is wagging the dog here.

If it is on a flat portion of the furnace you can make a new one. I've made several in the past. Hopefully you have tools and are willing to try. Buy a plumbing pipe cap. 1.5 inch. Drill a hole in the center large enough to see thru. Buy a piece of mica glass. Take a flat washer to cover the hole and mica. You will need to drill two holes thru the washer into the cap. Tap out the holes and secure with appropriate screws. I know it sounds like a lot of work, but cheaper then replacing furnace.

This is over my head, but, the good news is that the guy who is still renovating the house for me is a jack of all trades, and a really talented guy when it comes to working with metal, in particular. I will show your reply to him. But, aren't those pipe caps round? Mine is rectangular.
Thanks so much for being so ready to help!

Too bad my problem didn't come along about ten years ago. After Katrina, there was no shortage of abandoned older raised homes, that would have provided me with as many sight glasses as I would ever need!
