Rheem furnace / repair of replace?
#1

I have a Rheem "older model" VA00A1088 (not sure if that helps)gas forced air furnace that makes a lot of noise when the blower starts. The unit is successful in heating the house but at the expense of the noise that can be heard in every room of the house.
A plumber while running a new gas line suggested we get someone to look at the blower. The noise is kind of loud and is reverberating (almost shaking)like something is hitting inside the furnace. I have dealt with this problem the entire winter and was lucky enough to make it through without the unit failing. I want to make sure that I don't have this next winter.
How difficult is it to replace the blower if that what is thought to be the source of the problems.
If it could be other things what could they be, how could I check them and are they worth replacing over replacing the entire furnace.
All help is appreciated.

Furnace noise
Hi,
Remove the Blower compartment panel and shine Bright Light on Blower while someone turns on fan.Place T-Stat on off and Fan On.This will turn on Furnace Blower only and you can look for anything loose, wobbleing, hitting blower housing and so forth.Could be blower/Blower Wheel out of balance, broken mounting bracket,etc... You should see/hear/locate problem if it's the Blower causing it.Hope this helps, let us know what you find. Take Care.
