Janitrol furnace: irregular ignition

I have a janitrol gmp100-3 rev a furnace. When the heat is turned up at the t-stat most times the furnace will ignite and provide beat. Overnight or early in the morning when the stat is calling for heat it won't ignite. The sequence when it won't light is as follows:
Fan/inducer start and run for several seconds. The gas igniter will glow orange for several seconds but the burners will not fire up. You can hear a click just before the ignitor starts glowing and another click just before it turns off. Sometimes this process will happen 3 times and the furnace shuts down. Other times it make ignite on the 2nd or 3rd attempt. The led light on the contol board remains a solid red duri g this whole process, there is no flashing. What can I do to toubleshoot the issue?

If you have a meter, pull the wires off the gas valve. Put your meter on the wires. Run it though a cycle and see if you get 24V vac.

Thanks Skaggsje, I put a meter on the gas valve wires and it tested at over 26 volts. Any other suggestions or thoughts?

That proves the board is OK. Most likely a bad gas valve.

When checking for voltage.... the gas valve must be connected. Just turn the gas off.
Check at the board and then at the valve.

Are there any tests for the c9ntrol board? Seems strange that there would be no error codes.
Now the furnace won't fire at all. I ran it thru several cycles and it won't ignite at all

There is a series of events that MUST be followed.
Thermostat calls for heat.
Draft inducer starts.
15 seconds later igniter glows.
20 seconds later burner lights.
After several seconds the igniter goes out.
Blower starts.

Lots of tests here in the manual....hvac parts shop/manuals/gmph050-3.pdf

The furnace follows all those events up to the igniter glowing. Burners do not ignite and igniter goes out. It follows that sequence 3 times and then the furnace shuts down.
