Oil Furnace Blower Fan Bearing Replacement

I have a belt driven blower fan on my oil furnace with a bad bearing. I ordered a new 3/4" shaft and the bearing kits from Grainger. Things were looking good until I tried to install the bearings onto the squirrel cage. I can't get the rubber part and the bearings into the hole. I tried everything from axle grease to stretching the rubber and after 4 hours decided to ask for help. HELP... Is there a special tool or method?

After reading your post I decided to look in one of my HVAC supply house catalogs. They show 8 different types of bearings for a 3/4" shaft. There are 4 different outside diameters (1-13/16", 1-27/32", 2-1/16", & 2-17/32") without knowing the O.D. of your original bearings, someone is guessing.
