Replace control board for Trane XV95 furnace

Hello,

After lots of research, I bought a Trane's part # CNT5159 to replace the existing board on my Trane XV95 furnace. How do I know that the board was bad? Well, I have 2 XV95's, which had the same problem of randomly kicking in upon heat calls. A service company came and fixed 1 of the furnaces by replacing the board for $1200. I watched the whole thing and thought that I could do it myself.

So, I ordered the board for $400 and ....ran into a problem in which the new board does not have the CIR-H connector installed (see second picture (new board), middle of third row from top or first picture (old board), third cable connector from left).

Could someone advise what I should do now? Return the board and pay another $1200 to the serviceman? Skip the CIR-H connector altogether? Plug the cable that was connected to the CIR-H to a different connector?

Thank you much in advance for your time and expertise. I appreciate any help that I could get.

Phongski

The diagram shows CIR H and CIR N as the high voltage connections to the indoor FAN.
These terminals are always Hot since your original board is for a variable speed fan motor.

You incorrectly bought a board for a 4 speed fan motor.

The important thing to remember when ordering a control board for a furnace is to use the model number of the furnace not the series. Do not use XV95 as your model number.

It is like using a trucks VIN number to order a fuel pump versus getting the part for a Ford F-150.

Thank you for your message, Houston204. I'm going to return the board then. I'll google the correct part number based on your suggestion.
Thanks again!

Your original board will have a part number on it.

Not sure which one is the part # on the board. I may have to give up the idea of doing it myself :-D

Found it. It's CNT06017, which is replaced by CNT06585.

I found CNT06017 listed as new on Ebay by a warehouse liquidator. Not sure if it's still good when it has never been used. Do they age over time?

No they don’t age on a shelf like they do when installed.

They usually ship in a static protecting bag, I hope your eBay part is still in this bag.
