Beckett AFG with Honeywell R7284 - Valve on delay

Hi,

Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

The Burner and control are on a Weil Mclain Gold oil furnace.
all are about 5 years old.

The burner will not ignite. The Honeywell control displays "VALVE ON DELAY"
This happened once last week, I reset it, and has been ok until today. Not sure if the Suntec solenoid is bad, or even how to test it.

Edit to add; I am in New York and its 16 degrees outside. thank goodness for the wood stove.

Thanks again,

Tom G

Tom,
When the control is showing "valve on delay" it should be counting down, second by second. At the end of "valve on delay" there should be a click & the solenoid opening. Then, you go into "trial for ignition". If no flame is sensed during that time, the control will lock out.
